If you haven’t seen it, it’s about a guy with ALS who goes to Zurich for an assisted suicide (may he rest in peace).

So. I cried. Quite a bit. Because that’s what I do. 

Then the pizza guy called while I was in mid-cry so that was awkward. 

And when I came back upstairs, Adventure Time was on the TV and Finn was like “I only cry when it’s healthy. Like when people die.” and then Jake was poking fun at him. 

And I was just like LOOOOL. PEOPLE DYING IS SAD OK?

Coincidences. 

So these are the two oldest things I can find: (ca. 5th grade)

(This is around the second season of American Idol that I drew this if you couldn’t tell :P and the colored pencil squiggles are OBVIOUSLY supposed to be a crowd)
I had at least four more that I drew around the same time as this one that I wish I could find. There was a water, earth, fire, and air fairy (because I was obsessed with neopets and wanted to draw my own.) 

Then I became wildly obsessed with anime (and I discovered fanart) and this happened:
(6th-8th grade) 

That last one I distinctly remember it taking me like 2-4 hours to draw that xD …Her hand is facing the wrong direction…WHAT ARE HIPS? HOW DO I SHOULDER?….ginormous head….and the boobs. omg the boobs.
I was so proud of the one directly above it xD (I was obsessed with Rurouni Kenshin, so out came the samurai gear)

And my friend April should remember this one: 
We used to pause the anime we were watching so we could sit there and draw it xD twas quite a good time.

Theeeeen came the gothy, emo, vampirey stuff xDDD (I started reading Amelia Atwater-Rhodes’s books and that was that :P I wanted to be a vampirey goth kid but my mom wouldn’t let me dress that way so emo kid is about as far as I ever got xD) At one point these were just the best things that I was so proud of in my sketchbook (this was also before I realized a sketchbook is for sketching, not for final pieces. I’d also never had any formal art training up to this point so yeah. Nobody told me these things.)
(high school) 

It’s funny that I’ve been basically drawing since I was old enough to hold a pencil, but I never thought of art as a career until I got to high school. Up until then I was in the school band and I was planning on trying for a scholarship based on that and going to college for psychology. I quit band after they forced us to do marching band and the band director was an asshole. BEST decision I ever made. I started drawing so much more and I figured out that you can actually do something like this for a living. 

…but I like looking through old art because it’s HILAAAARIOUS. And then I don’t feel so bad because I know at least I don’t suck this much anymore xDDD (I found some old sketchbooks while cleaning. When I move I believe I’ll have a viewing party over some dinner and drinks, so prepare your monocles.)
